
“I’m not a doctor, but I play one on television.” Actually, Gregory Harrison, who played Dr. George “Gonzo” Gates on the television series Trapper John, M.D., was a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, so perhaps that statement doesn’t apply to him.
After seven seasons starring as “Gonzo” in Trapper John, Harrison’s next major role was in the movie For Ladies Only where he played a stripper, John Phillips, making him forever more a favorite with women and gay men.
