Ken Boxer Live welcomes actress and producer Melanie Marden to our TVSB Ken Boxer Live studios.

To quote from Melanie Marden’s bio:

“Melanie Marden is an award winning actress and producer who became popular when she was chosen as Mattels’ life-sized Barbie. She went on to star in a series of Super Bowl commercials, which is when Melanie caught the attention of producers, who quickly offered her the lead role in the film Pigs, an American Pie-like film. This is where the world first met Melanie. Final Draft, with James Vanderbeek, a movie written with Melanie in mind, followed shortly after.

“An entrepreneur and humanitarian at heart, Melanie founded a beauty and wellness concierge company.  Flashing her high voltage smile and exuding enough energy to single-handedly fuel the West Coast power grid, it’s no wonder Marden has become one of the hottest new talents.”

To quote Wikipedia:

Donna Loren is an American singer and actress. A prolific performer in the 1960s, she was the “Dr Pepper Girl” from 1963 to 1968, featured female vocalist on ABC-TV’s Shindig, and a cast member of the American International Pictures “Beach Party” movie franchise.

Loren was signed to Capitol Records in 1964, releasing several singles and the Beach Blanket Bingo LP soundtrack, which included her signature song “It Only Hurts When I Cry.” She guest starred on episodic television series including Dr. Kildare, Batman, and The Monkees, as well as appearing regularly on network and local variety and music shows.

In 1968 she retired from her career to marry and raise a family. Loren recorded again in the 1980s and ran her own fashion business, ADASA Hawaii, throughout the 1990-2000s. In 2009, she returned to performing. Her most recent releases include the album Love It Away (2010) and the EP Donna Does Elvis in Hawaii (2010), as well as the compilation These Are the Good Times: The Complete Capitol Recordings (2014). Joanna Cassidy
Joanna Cassidy

Ken Boxer Live welcomes Joanna Cassidy, an American actress best known for her roles as Zhora Salome in Ridley Scott’s film “Blade Runner” (1982) and Dolores in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (1988). She has won a Golden Globe Award and three times has clenched Emmy Award nominations.  In introducing her I quote a short blurb from Jennifer Juniper Stratford of vice.com:

“Statuesque and confident, Joanna Cassidy has built a career out of playing highly competent women who are usually well-paid professionals, unmarried, and sometimes not human at all. Best known for her role as the replicant Zhora in the dystopian classic Blade Runner, Joanna is just as big a fan of the film as the next nerd. For its 30th anniversary, she made her own Blade Runner fan film. In the clip, she gives the fans what they always wanted—a reenactment of the erotic snake dance that was unfortunately axed when the film went over budget.”

Come join us for an exciting interview with the hugely talented Joanna Cassidy.

Pamela des Barres—1960’s-Era Rock Star Groupie—Guest 03/05/2018

Pamela des Barres
Pamela des Barres

Ken Boxer Live welcomes our next guest, former 1960’s-era groupie, Pamela des Barres. In introducing her I quote Katie Bain from noisey.vice.com:

“Pamela Des Barres is most often remembered for having sex with Mick Jagger. And Jimmy Page. And Keith Moon. And Waylon Jennings. And a bunch of other rock gods in between. Des Barres carved out her place in rock ‘n’ roll history as one of LA’s most prolific groupies during the decadent era when the members of Led Zeppelin rode motorcycles down hotel hallways and musicians got crazy rich off of record sales. But she also made music herself as a member of The GTOs (Girls Together Outrageously), a band made up of a bunch of groupies, as organized by Frank Zappa (Des Barres used to babysit his kids). In pictures from the era, Des Barres is an ethereal, glowing redhead in silk vintage wear—exactly the kind of woman you’d want to spend time with if you were a virile young rock star in town for the week.”

We all look forward to des Barres’s filling in the details with her incredible memories of those times.
